I can get an ADL600 for guitar recording next week. Or I can get a Focusrite ISA 220 and 240? Which would be better for high-gain guitarage ???

I'm thinking the ADL might add a little tubeness to the microphone signal, which will result in higher perceived gain levels. Could come out too grainy though. Never used it before, and I could potentially get all of them, but there's a logistics issue, so I'm sort of unsure!

I should qualify that I don't mean it sounds exactly like an avalon, I just meant it was more of a clean than a color piece.

Isn't that why a lot of people don't like the Avalons?

My general understanding was for high gain guitars it was generally better to have a pre that has some coloration, generally slightly dark and detailed on the highs with a fair amount but clear mids as opposed to hyper-linearity.

Sounds promising dudes. I think I'll try it out, and if it doesn't work out, juse use the pre's in my Profire, which are reasonable enough. Cheers for the comments!

I got a really good deal on a ADL a few years ago, Its the only "nice" pre i own, though i dont have anything to compare it to i will just say it works for me.
