Priest song in commercial

Yeah right. We totally know you have already stopped in at the local Honda dealer to check the interest rate on financing one of those Odyssey vans. Busted!

Come on, everyone knows the lead singer doesn't bring equipment! I drive a yellow Celica and bring nothing but my mic stand and my leather outfit. I leave all the grunt work to the man designated to carry it!

The bassist!

I'm the same way; throw the good old Beta 58 inside its case and that's about it. No leather outfit, though. In our case, it's the drummer who fills in his Chrysler Pacifica with (usually unnecessary) stuff. He is also in charge of carrying *everything* in. (even the mic case,)

Makes me very glad I am not a DOKKEN fan.
That commercial just outright sucks.

As for Priest, good for them!!!!!!
Whether you want to admit it or not, many of their fans MIGHT be in the market for a minivan.

Not odd at all to market a traditionally unhip vehicle in this manner.

For the record, I have three kids, and not one minivan in my garage!

That Dokken spot was bad indeed. The minvan spot is bad as well. Not due to the JP music in it but the spot as a whole. I don't have an issue with marketing to metal fans at all, it's just the manner in how it was done. Having dabbled in marketing myself I believe this spot to be a total wreck.

1. What the hell is up with the panther.
2. Why is there a Marshall Half stack in the van. They make it sound like it's part of the package. (not that I thought it was but you know some jack hole will ask for it)
3. Why use a song by real metal icons and then show on the dvd screen a split screen of godzilla with what looks like a dude dressed up for Halloween as a 80's hair metal guy. Why not use JP in the video? If you could not get JP to do it, why not find a band that would and use a song by them to match up the music to the video? ( I know, I am giving the viewing public too much credit in that most would never know that it is a JP song and they would never know it was JP in the video if they showed them)

It just does not work. I have a minivan and love it so it's not a "I am too metal for a minivan" thing. I like the idea of the spot, I just didn't care for the execution.

A friend of mine pointed out the address on the gps was redemption rd. I didn't catch that the first time through. He said, what song would they use if was an Iron Maiden song? I said I didn't know but the GPS would read 22 Acacia Avenue.

I wondered who that guy was too haha.

I bet getting Priest to appear would have cost extra

Halford is currently in a Virgin mobile spot so I am sure he would have done it. I really think what it comes down to is they assumed and probably correctly that most ( non metal folk ) would not even know the song much less know what a member of JP would look like so why spend the extra cash on a JP member.

If the opposite is true in that they really believed that most would recognize the song then why not go all out and get Halford dangit.

More importantly, why do I seeming care so much about this?
