I don't know if any of you guys have Pro Tools 11 yet, but I just received a review copy and I'm having a bit of trouble with the install. The PR girl told me that both PT 11 and my previous version, PT 8 LE, should be able to co-exist on the same OS, but when I try to install PT 11 it gives me a warning. It keeps saying that setup detected an older version of Pro Tools on my system, and that I need to uninstall the old setup and try again. I don't really want to completely uninstall my Pro Tools 8 setup because I've read that PT11 does not support RTAS plugins. Is there a way around this? Thanks in advance.

I may be wrong but I thought 11 came with a 10 license for the RTAS thing. It sucks it won't just leave whatever you have though.

Good call, they gave me a bundle with PT 11 HD, PT 10 HD as well as the standard versions for both. I wasn't aware that 10 still had RTAS. What other big differences are there between the two?

Avid have said you need to install/update to 10.3.6 to run a co-installation of 10 and 11 but I've 10.0.0 and 11 and they're working together fine.

I just uninstalled 8 LE and I'm about to install 11. They gave me a link to the 11 trial download, but I didn't see anything for 10. Is 10 somewhere in the 11 download?

Just a little clarification...

PT 11, will have to delete any older version of PT in order to work, due to it all being reworked. They have for the time being allowed you to have PT 10 and 11 together, but that is it. I assure you that is a short term situation, as I bet by PT 11.1 or 2 it'll require you to delete PT 10 as well. Only reason 10 works right now is the transition to AAX is sloowwww as fuck, and in all honesty, I think the only reason they did this was cause waves isn't there yet.

So yes, no way around it, it has to be done. My suggestion if you don't want to uninstall 8 is to mirror your startup up drive and do it on the mirror.
