Profound Lore Records

Recently heard COBALT - Gin for the first time (yeah, I'm an idiot), and it really got my interest piqued in this label. I had no idea they'd put out so many great albums. Other than some obvious ones (Agalloch, YOB, Alcest, etc.), which of their releases are considered the most essential? I want to check a few more out. Here's the list I came up with on my own, based on reviews, RC and general chatter:

STARGAZER – A Great Work Of Ages
DAWNBRINGER – Nucleus
PORTAL – Outré
DEAD CONGREGATION – Promulgation Of The Fall
KRALLICE – Dimensional Bleedthrough
PALLBEARER – Sorrow And Extinction

What am I missing?

A lot of stuff, to be honest. There isn't too much that has been released by PFL that isn't worthwhile. The first Krallice would be a better choice if you haven't heard it. Alraune from this year is really, really good. Impetuous Ritual features two Portal members and is in the vein of more traditional, straight forward death metal, rather than Portal's claustrophobic chaos. I haven't heard the latest SubRosa, but the previous was pretty damn good.

List goes on and on really.

More people should listen to Saros, but they won't, and that is okay enough I suppose.

However, I will draw the line at those who ignore The Tenant by Ludicra. Unruly album.

Saros and Bloody Panda are two of the only things PFL put out that I wasn't fond of.

Been downloading an album every Sunday for the past few weeks. So far...

COBALT - Gin = What heavy metal is supposed to sound like. 9.5/10
STARGAZER - A Great Work Of Ages = Great musicianship, but not really my thing. 7/10
DAWNBRINGER - Nucleus = Rockin' heavy metal with no frills. Nice. 7.5/10
PORTAL - Outre = The Blut Aus Nord of death metal? Love it. 8.5/10

Upcoming:

THE GATES OF SLUMBER - Conqueror
ALTAR OF PLAGUES - White Tomb
OCCULTATION - Silence In The Ancestral House (one of their new releases I know absolutely nothing about aside from the fact that it has a cool cover)

Related to PFL - Listen to Occultation's Three & Seven first. The guitarist of this band is in Negative Plane. Occultation was great at Wings of Metal.

Unrelated to PFL - Have you heard Stargazers first album? People who don't like the second album typically still enjoy the first quite a bit. That intro usually pulls people right in.
