ProgPower USA IX Roster Announcement....

You know, I just had a thought.. not all 1100 people read the forums. Perhaps you should make some kind of official announcement during night 2 so people don't leave after the jam session.

I'll announce it on Friday night during a break that the roster will be released after the jam session on Saturday (that closes out the night). There will also be a front page news note soon on the website today. Those that don't visit the forum tend to check the website before they head to Atlanta to see if there is any changes or news.

Honestly, I will not take silence as a negative. I will take it as a "what the fuck was he thinking" or "who?"

I love those "who?" bands. One of those bands became Mercenary for me. And everyone here knows what a Mercenary fanboy I've been since their announcement at PP4 (nearly as bad as my Elvenking fanboyism). That is one of the huge reasons I love not knowing (m)any of the bands, it's like a grab bag of fun. You never know what you're going to get :)

But glad to hear people won't be caught unawares about the announcement. It'd be hilarious to find pissed people because they left.

....and I don't see that changing over a few of them this year!

Just like when you announced THERION, ORPHANED LAND, and FREAK KITCHEN, and what has happened, all three of these have become crowd favorites. So in my humble opinion yes you will get WTF, but in a good way, as i think most people trust your judgement, and the WTF bands will again become crowd favorites, can you say "LET YOUR MINDFLOW".

Silence will probably end up greeting half the bands if history is any judge. Most people aren't familiar with about half the bands on the roster before they get a chance to check out their stuff.

maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't call myself one of the most knowledgeable people in the community, and there have only been a couple of bands announced that I wasn't previously familiar with, in the entire history of PPUSA.

I have a better idea for releasing the PP IX roster.

Get Center Stage to invest in a bunch of glasses for yards of beer - like in an Irish Pub, with the literal *yard* of beer to drink.

Place a small piece of paper with the PP IX roster at the bottom of each glass. Sell full yards during the jam session.

First person to drink their yard of beer without spilling it, and still be able to read the roster clearly wins free tickets.

I would only participate if the yards are boot shaped.

DAS BOOT!!!!

So this will be a verbal announcement? Giving the discussion of crowd reaction as each name is revealed. As opposed to (for example) writing the names on a big banner and letting it unfurl over the stage or something to announce all the confirmed acts at once?

Glenn Announces Nightwish as headliner.

Tarja Fanboys and Nightwish fanboys erupt into violence, leaving the floor coated with beer, blood, piss, water, tears, and body parts.

hehehehe

Damn, when Glenn says "making their first and only U.S. appearance, all the way from the land down under... Vanishing Point", I will officially lose my mind.

I have been hearing nothing but positive reactions to their much anticiapted new release and Enbrace The Silence was absolutely incredible.

Yeah i know, i took this opportunity to plug one of the bands I have been dying to see.

Anyway, looking forward to the announcement at the end of this years show!!!
