howdy guys.

got exams, so i don't have much time to record these days.

i've been working on a new song, and i decided to fiddle around with revalver. not sure if this is an improvement over gearbox? you decide.

Revalver

Gearbox

still to try nick crows 8505, i'm hearing some awesome stuff with it. need to get round to installing windows again though.. *sigh*

any help appreciated!

thanks,

ahh, thanks!

yea, it's all S2.0, with a little bit of external proccessing on the kick (limiting, gate, and more EQ), but i might just rework it from scratch, i don't think it sounds too great.. i'll post the preset to that soon. i can share the pod farm preset, but there is a fair amount of EQing after!

you'll need to wait until tomorrow too, my cubase key is.. somewhere. not attatched to the computer. haha.

thanks,

I still hear 'shit made of plastic' with gearbox. The revalver one sounds a little bit natural than the other clip. Try and make the drums cut through a bit. I kinda dig the bass tone the way it is, but I personally would have made it a little sharper.

The track's clipping, btw. Try to make the mix as tight as possible before squashing it. You can start by using a much more cleverly implemented comp on the kick, as it seems that that is the main culprit behind the clipping.

interesting, it's brick wall limited, at the very last plugin point.. i shall look into this.

yea, i'm not a huge fan of gearbox, but my tones have been getting better from it. i'm thinking i'm just gonna redo my drum sound from scratch, you'd laugh if you seen how it was set up currently.. aha.

the "bass" is actually a detuned guitar (detuned in cubase), i'm waiting to get my mates real bass, then i'll track it properly then, although this wont be for a while.

thanks for the input!
