This genre is filled with a ton of wank, but there is some great stuff. Obviously Death started everything and The Chasm took that and put out some of the best death metal. But Morbus Chron (and Sweven), the new Horrendous, StarGazer, and the new Mefitis are fucking top tier albums.

I don't know if I just got older, but this stuff is on repeat. What you got?

Ive got Pestilence - Testimony of the Ancients OOP 1PRESS HTF RARE. It aint my thang, but I gave it an honest go.

For me, Akercocke is the way to go. I love that band and the shootoff Voices.

I also have the 1st two Opeths. Woo-hoo!

The Chasm rules hard, except the last one.

I like all Akercocke, but they really took off with Choronzon and Words that Go Unspoken. Lost it a little with Antichrist and came back to the top with their newest one.

Their cheesy "suits and Satanism" schtick is totally fucking rad to me. With the new one, they went the way of Load and cut the hair and wear band shirts and look like truckers now.

I mean just look at this shit. Satanic metal with strippers in a car garage. I mean wtf?



And this song is totally annoying except the end.

That song is fine, but definitely not what I think with progressive death metal, though. It's a bit "avante-garde"
