Punish my Heaven vs. Punish my Heaven (WAR)

Yes, another pointless poll. But this is probably the only sane topic that hasn't been done yet. Which do you prefer, Punish my Heaven, or Punish my Heaven, WAR version?

I vote for WAR.

Gee, where did you get this WAR comp. version..?

Went with the WAR version as well, for its rawness and aggression and the clean part ("It's the choice between heaven... and hehehellll!!") is better in that version.

It's been a while since I last time listened to the WAR-version, but I must say I wasn't awed by it, unlike some people seem to be. Perhaps it is just my preference for the version I first fell in love with, or my liking of the more polished sound, but I really don't get it how people tend to like the WAR-version more.

I'm not saying either version is bad - actually they are both pretty excellent - but The Gallery version is just slightly better, IMHO.

I just like Mikael's voice more on the WAR version. Also, the tempo of the song is generally more energetic. The production is clearly worse than the album version though, and pretty thin, but otherwise I prefer WAR.

i have both, but i'm not impressed with the war version. it just sounds raw and unpolished without having any particular highlight. but they're not that different after all.

w.a.r. stands for "wrong again records". cd 005 by w.a.r. label, out in 1995, was a compilation featuring death metal bands the likes of in flames, ceremonial oath, dissection, eucharist and katatonia. if i'm not mistaken w.a.r. released both lunar strain and subterranean by in flames.
track number four on that cd is an earlier version of punish my heaven (4:37), and the one we are comparing to its more famous counterpart on the gallery.
