Quad Tracking

So to be clear: quad tracking is recording 4 separate takes (as opposed to the standard 2).

Any of you guys got a few anecdotes you'd like to share here about famous albums and bands and their interesting mixing of the guitars ?

I've read rumors here and there Metallica during Master used just a truck load of guitar tracks, like 3 left and 3 right. I've heard rumors of more in other bands...
