There is no definition for what Queen did for music. They are one of the first bands i've ever heard when i was a kid. The had imense talent they were one of those kind of artists that didnt want to be in a particular genre. They did almost everything on a album: Rock Jazz blues metal ballads opera punk prog, a fusion of good stuff.
Although, i think like many of you, that their best work was in the 70's and probably until The Game, all their albums until then were awesome. With Hot Space Freddie mustache came up and coincidence or not the band started to use too much synths and drum machines which in the 80's were a terrible way to make any good sound the piano is really missing at all there..it all became based on pop/rock hits instead of a decent songs with real instruments.
In that decade at least one song of each album was classic Queen to me: Las palabras de amor on hot space, Is this the world we created on The Works, WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER on a kind of magic, and Was it all worth it on The Miracle. They also grabbed some great metal/rock songs, i want it all and hammer to fall come to mind.
With Innuendo(their LAST work, i don't count the sad and ridiculous Heaven to everyone), they sorta came back to the old principle of making good songs to make a real album. I like Innuendo a lot Freddies vocals are great!! He's missed.
Well my favorite song is Save Me and my favorite album is News Of The World.
