I'll save the bullshit and cut to the chase.

Who likes the Queens?

Oh, and this one's especially for biggsy (though the Queens aren't a crap band by any stretch of the imagine):

Wait for it...

The entire ''r'' album, and ''songs for the deaf''...they really blow imo man, not my cup of tea, that song ''No one Knows'' is annoying, the only song i think is decent has to be ''Little Sister''

Well, they have a rather monotonous sound, in that the guitars all have that beafy low-end sound in almost all their songs, and not a lot of actual riffs are used, so it all kind of sounds like the same wall of sound aproach in every song. But that's just their sound, and you either love it or hate it.

EDIT: Damn, that was a lot of sound.

actually, I like them, at least after listening to SFTD and a couple of songs off other albums...

They're not a band that you listen to once and go "Wow, that's great". If you like what you've heard so far, Id say, keep listening, you might end up loving them, because they are awesome.

QOTSA are okay but not really worth discussing.

I guess asking for reasons is futile, seeing as that would lead to discussion on the topic of QOTSA but I'm gonna take a shot anyway.

Why?

Because there are about a million more interesting, better and less well known bands. I guess I just don't really see the point in opening topic after topic about bands that anyone could see by just turning on the TV. I'd rather see more threads about music that people would otherwise not have found out about or listened to I guess.

Add to that the fact that as I said QOTSA just aren't in any way remarkable to me. They are okay but nothing about their sound or songwriting is any way earth shattering. They're pretty much just a generic radio rock band. Not that there is anything wrong with that necesarily, but I just don't really see much to discuss about them.

If you've got QOTSA on your tv every day, then well, Id like to live where you live. But yeah, they're well known, rightfully so. I wouldn't say they're a generic rock band, though. Granted, I haven't really listened to radio lately, but if Queens of the Stone Age are really just another generic radio rock band, then I'd say radio has improved quite drasticely. Any other generic rock radio bands you can recommend me? Looks like I might have a soft spot for them.

EDIT: about this: "I'd rather see more threads about music that people would otherwise not have found out about or listened to I guess." Nothing wrong with that, but I'm not trying to introduce bands (not literally anyway). I'm looking for discussion and opinions. I think there's little to discuss on a band nobody knows or has listened to other then responses like "Ok, I will check them out". I'm not looking for that kind of thing.

Or you could listen to Kyuss who are the precursor to QOTSA and who had a much more unique sound at the time (QOTSA is pretty much watered-down Kyuss).

And I seem to remember plenty of QOTSA songs getting loads of airplay on MTV, yes. No One Knows and Go With the Flow were pretty much played to death and I've seen Little Sister from the new album quite a bit too.

Yeah, Ive seen the videos, but I havent seen one in ages. Besides, the singles don't exactly give a good impression as to the greatness of QOTSA, they're just nice appetizers.

these guys are lame, and suck live, I saw them back in 2000 at Ozzfest when they were first started, there were louder than Ted Nuget:OMG:, just boring lame music

Ted nugent!! Ted is the shit i love him

It would take an awesome band to have a living rock legend doing guest-marching on your album. Not to mention Billy Gibbons (aka the coolest guitarist of all time).
