Does anyone have experience with either the Wadia i170 or Pure i20 iPod stereo docks? They supposedly are about as lossless as you can make an iPod.

Conclusion
The Pure i20 is an excellent entry level audiophile class digital transport dock for the listener willing to try out something new to add in a audio system. The Wadia 170i is another great entry to the world of Audiophile Class listening but would require significant upgrade to make into a better music experience. What the Pure offers is more than what Wadia offers unless one counts on the more expensive and better pure transport, the 171i from Wadia. The 171i I have had the privilege in auditioning and can say with great certainty is better than the former, which is the 170i. The higher resolution files can be played off of the Pure i20 while standard red book format files can be played on the higher cost Wadia 170i transport.

The Wadia is a full size audio component to complement the equipment surrounding a given high-end audiophile system. All of the outputs are full size including the video outputs given for the video and picture versions of Apple iPod devices. The Pure also offers outputs for video, but due to the size of the Digital Transport Dock, special cables are provided and used to provide video output to intended devices. Plus the Pure i20 doesn't have the same appearance that would make it an audiophile product. I can assure you all though that the Pure i20 is an excellent entry level model to the world of high-end Audiophile Class music product. Treating it as a player makes for one hell of an audio product in the high-end, and then add to that, the ability to be treated as a Transport to an outboard digital to analog converter.

All in all, both audio products provide an excellent listening experience while not busting the bank. The digital age is here and many new audiophiles are considering the iPod as a CD Audio replacement since lossless audio can be had without having to carry these cumbersome discs. Everybody has an iPod and or iPod Touch, iPhone with both video and music files hence it would be proper to say that these digital bypass docks would be a great addition to any given audio system. These two companies are able to offer entry level Audiophile Class products without causing undo strain on the bank yet with some customization thus able to allow for the listener to create a certain level of fidelity with the sound.

Not to mention the Pure is a helluva lot less
