question for the computer geeks

1. get Athlon...totally waste of money to Pentium or Celeron if you will do that as you said above...
2. dont get GF MMX..get GF Ti4xxx...
3. all other stuff is okay.
AMD does more IPS (instructions per second), which will only be needed if your a gamer, or a media designer.
Now if you are a database manager, or going to build a type of server, or a casual user Intel is the way to go. Why? Because, It isn't so much relying on the instruction carry out. It is more relying on what to do.
I use AMD myself but I'm a big gamer :)

AMD processors themselves are cheap as shit compared to Intel, but since he already has an Intel motherboard, it would cost at least an extra $200 for a new motherboard to handle the rest of the specs, and to buy the AMD processor after it, which will turn out in total around $300. Just go for a Pentium 4 2.4 (or higher) and its good.
