Just wondering how you have bands monitor. Do you have a bunch of headphones that you carry around? Have the band bring their own along? If you bring headphones, what kind? Did you splurge for the iso headphones?

Also, what headphones do you use for monitoring?

Thanks.

Personally, I use a pair of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, which are pretty decent. I have a couple pairs of cheap Yamaha headphones (don't remember the model, they're like $30). I figure the band doesn't need top-quality headphones just to hear themselves, until I get more money anyways.

I just have two pairs of headphones when doing mobile stuff. I only have 8 i/o so with my mobile rig it's usually one person at a time, and really only drummers and vocalists get headphones, as I try to record bass, guitar and keys in front of the monitors... Some of the cheaper senn. or yamahas will do fine. You may want to look into one of the cheap headphone distro's too. I think behringer or presonus make some affordable ones.

Mackbookpro / apogee duet interface / countryman / sennheiser hd650

I switched to a mobile config because of my numerous trips and I don't regret that at all ! And a MacBook pro is way enough for most use (unless you wanna mix 3 ou 400 tracks but I haven't tried yet), it is just a big investment compared to a PC tower

I would add the same for guitarists, cheapy but decent headphones, though I'm sure with the spillage from open headphones I could hear what is going on easily

For several years while I was in college, I ran my recording business out of the back of my Corolla. The best solution I found was a Behringer Powerplay Pro 8 headphone amp with Vic Firth S1H1 Iso Headphones. Definitely not the best sounding cans, but they have great isolation (because they're made for drummers) and they're reasonably cheap (around $50). Plus, they're plenty rugged for road use.
