No hope = No fear
- Peter Steele

Very good, and very true. It's so simple but it makes faultless sense under extrenuous circumstances in life. Sure, everyone has some kind of fear no matter how much hope they have, but is it down to hesitation borne of going against your animal instinct? Is it really fear? I think fear in humans is a more advanced form of self-protection; one that is built on the cushioning of our lifestyles, experiences and the things we take for granted. Any sort of privaleged lifestyle will breed hope of the future, even if the privaleges had been stripped, the memory still provides hope of something better if you're down in the gutter. Hope is defeated when someone has never had anything I think, or when someone has been utterly destroyed for having something that gave them hope in the first place. In the absence of hope, there is little to look forward to, and as fear is usually a conscious amalgamation of emotion geared towards self-preservation it is bypassed in the heat of the moment and maybe even with the intention to be killed anyway. Us human beans are complex runners.
