Maybe "Alienate" wasn't the right word to use in that post.
I'm still sticking with my statement that all those groups I mentioned
changed their sound and maintained their integrity.
If it weren't for albums like YES' 90125 or RUSH's Grace Under Pressure
coming out when I was a very impressionable 13 years of age, I may never have liked these bands and their previous efforts.
I guess the same can be said with regards to METALLICA. All those new fans they have now, are now getting into the older stuff, like I once did.
Bottom line...I just don't believe METALLICA has any integrity anymore.
That's my opinion and you can either agree or disagree with it.
