Just wanted to throw this trick out, might help some guys out.
I just tracked those drums. Very cool vibe, everything is great. Expect that one crash that is hissing and whossing my brains out. I can't go back to the studio and eq/compression dont seem to do the trick.
I figured out i try something else. So i used massey DRT to convert the kicks/snare/toms to midi notes. I mapped the notes correctly and i fine tuned all the velocities (according to the original performance). Then i re-wrote the cymbal parts (crashes/rides/china). Finally I blended the original audio HH. In Studio Drummer, i am soloing just the OH and room channels. So I re-created an artificial room/OH track with Studio Drummer.
The phase is great and it sounds good in the mix. The cool vibe is still present thanks to the original audio Kick, Snare and HH. And the cymbals are now nice and clean.
Take that bitchy crash cymbal.
