Really good music.

Also, if you like The Twilight Singers and you have not heard their lead singers previous band, check them out. They are called The Afghan Whigs and they were around from the mid 80s to 1999 or thereabouts. Their first couple albums were pretty crummy grunge, but they got a lot better as they went along. Their last 4 albums, Congregation, Gentlemen, Black Love, and 1965 are all awesome albums and definitely worth purchasing, the middle two are the best. Black Love has been one of my favorite albums since I first heard it back in '96 when it came out.

oh oh.

and i don't know if you'd like them, but one of my favorite groups is this crazy 80's japanese band called the plastics. they sing these amazing songs with these amazing lyrics/accents. they only had one hit in the US called "top secret man" and the girl used to put car wax in her car to make it all spiky.

they rule.

I am partial to O.L.D. myself. They were a rather eccentric metal band who were constantly pushing themselves in non-token ways towards the field of actual interesting music. It's tough to get specific since Lo Flux Tube is brutal and pounding yet Formula laid the groundwork for that whole hauntingly beautiful ambient guitar bit James Plotkin (khanate, joy of disease, etc) did later on.

I also dig Thought Industry. Black Umbrella's probably the album that convinced me "alterna-metal" could actually avoid being cliched horse manure. On top of that, there's some rather interesting ass-ripping metal in the pre-Umbrella days (reminds me of a non-"HAHA LOOKIT US! WE'VE GOT MIKE PATTON TO MAKE SILLY NOISES" Fantomas sometimes, just about a decade older.)

p.s. Both bands releases are out of print. One of the O.L.D. releases has a habit of showing up in the Transworld Media (FYE, Strawberries, Sam Goody etc.) 2 for $7-$8 bin. Plus, metal Blade is clearing out all but two of the Thought Industry albums for $0.99 (plus shipping) a pop.
