No elaboration needed, you might want strong French black metal, epic and ancient, with a powerful yet gr1m and pagan-ish sound à la Nocternity. Look no further. You know me, I do not lie about quality.

How does this compare to Metamorphosis? I thought it was interesting, especially the bass work and epic structures, but it kind of falls through the cracks and becomes a bit monotonous.

I'd say you know it's the same band but it feels like they were striving to achieve a more compact entity, both in sound and structural delivery. Some might say the production is lacking, but I think it fits the gray, mineral nature of the music perfectly. 3 of the songs are 10 min+ epics that never release their grip on the mind.
