Recommend some chuggy heavy stuff....

 why dude? They're not great or anything but I'm curious what makes you say that.

i think they are kind a stupid i mean fun to just throwdown to with some friends and just be "br00tal" but live they aren't that great and i mean they just got real old in my book reall quick. plus the dude inhales. like everything. if he just stuck and did his straight up hardcore yells that band would be legit. the guitar riffs are sometimes lacking. and the lyrics are down right stupid. fuck you get the fuck out, my blade will be the last thing you see...seriously? but i mean they aren't horrible i just really don't like em haha

old throwdown was so great, why have they changed to sound like another pantera?

+1!!

I saw them last summer and it was hands down the single worst live show I saw 2008 (including everything @ hellfest plus a lot more shows I saw outside of Iceland). The playing was unbelievably sloppy and you could really feel how they didn't give a shit about the show... so disappointing. Sounded like a tired pantera cover band...

I like the synths (perhaps because I know the topless pic of their keyboardess (?))
and I like the vocals and the lyrics are fun (but stupid - this doesn't work for me other times)

Hehe got to disagree with you there about Winds of Plague. I think they're awesome. Lyrics can be a bit childish at times and I lost a lot of respect for them since I saw their first video, however I find them to be quite a solid package. And with labels such as deathcore and the like, I think that it's got more of a love/hate relationship in areas where it has some kind of cultural significance, which is of course understandable. The fans of the genre give a bad reputation to the music ( ridiculous slam dancing, overkill with the breakdowns, hip hop headgear and so forth). Coming from a place unaffected by the superfluous aspects of the genre, I could listen to it and appreciate it for what it is as music rather than for the image it entails with it.

I got your point, but beyond the "superfluous aspects" you described, i think "Winds of plague" music alone sucks, same for most deathcore bands (whom i know by listening to songs only before checking their logo/layout /band pics/live show/etc).
It's not because deathcore is bad (i like Animosity, TBDM, and some All Shall Perish from time to time), it's just because it's the trendiest genre right now and most of the bands in this scene right now are just typical uninspired posers (like we had with metalcore, and before with nu-metal, etc), not to be confused with those who really brought something (TBDM, All shall perish, animosity, ...) and are really worth listening to IMO.

Trendiest I agree, which is fucking annoying. Luckily I'm not living in an environment where the scene kids can engulf me and piss me off.

they aren't solid. and i am one of those "slam dancing" Hiphop headgear" guys. and they are just a lame band, not very good live. their music lacks good structure sure they have a riff everyonce in a life time thats good. and i dig em when they do that. but if they turned into a straight up more hxc band they would be so muuuch better. now about their fans ruining them kinda true, but thats more a problem with WhiteChapel,Impending doom, and Job for a Cowboy honestly. all of those bands are well written, legit and great live

tbdm are no deathcore and asp isn't deathcore anymore. I don't know about animosity, I saw em once and never heard em before or again.

I agree.

Their guitars lack so much.

Alot of people think the guitars are so great when they aren't.

Especially the solos. He does the same arpeggios with different notes (if that even makes sense:lol:) over and over and over.

If your going to "shred", the be original with it.

On that note Djab, I'm curious - even whilst playing in France, do they still declare that they're "SWORN ENEMY, FROM QUEENS NEW YORK, MOTHERFUCKERRRRRRRRR"? :D

Totally, lol :)

By the way tonight i saw NEAREA / SWORN ENEMY / EARTH CRISIS and the guitar tones were just ridiculous.

Backline amps were the same for all bands, and it was Rectifier with Marshall cab on one side, and 5150 with some other cab (forgot which one), on the other side, both miked up with AT4040 IIRR.
Most guitar players were using Jackson soloist type EMG81/85 loaded guitars, some of them with Tube Screamers in front of the amp.

So i just seem to dig the AT4040 more than the SM57 for guitars.

According to this one particular live gig with god knows how many other variables involved :D I'd have to try one in a studio environment to make any sort of decision, but who knows, maybe I (or you) would in fact end up preferring it; didn't Logan Mader use a 414 (in other words, an LDC as well) on "The Way of All Flesh"?
