Recommendation: Carnivore "Retaliation"

I decided to post this in light of the "rate these bands thread"

For those not actually familliar with this band, this was Peter Steele's band prior to Type O Negative (that is, before the prozac, love songs and Playgirl modeling). Mixing elements of thrash, New York Hardcore, and doom ala Black Sabbath, Carnivore is best described as urban neo-barbarianism. Favorite subject matter includes completely non-PC explorations of male dominance, violence, racism, nuclear war, technology and so forth. Retaliaton was the second and last album from this band, released in 1987 and the lyrics took on a bit more biting humor and lyrical irony.

Carnivore is about as as it gets. I'm extremely surprised that not many people around here have heard of them, especially those somewhat into thrash. The s/t is absolutely BAD ASS to the core. Legion of Doom, God is Dead, Thermonuclear Warrior. Fuckin domination right there.

Yeah I need this. I've been saying that since 1996.

I dig how the guitar tone is nearly identical to TON's but this doesn't have much relation to that band. Well, maybe some Origin of Feces stuff.

I prefer the s/t, but this is pretty fucking good.

As far as I'm concrned, Slow Deep and Hard/Origin of the Feces are the lost Carnivore albums and totally seperate from everything else TON ever did.
