Recommendation: VAURA - Selenelion

Neat and very keen. I will purchase that the day it is released, without hesitation!

Selenelion is probably the best new thing from the '10s, at least what I've heard.

Listening to this now, there's a thousand layers to unravel. I'm only 15 minutes in, and I already surmise that this is something I'd have to listen to fifty times just to start peeling the onion. Do I want this journey? Do I need this journey? :continues listening:

This album is the real cheese. I spun it this morning and was late to work accordingly because it was rocking my soul as per usual from first to last moment. Worth it! :kickass:

I bought the new one, but fucking B7N never sent it to me, so I cancelled my order. Which means that I have yet to hear The Missing.

^ Yeah, gave that a spin last night. WAY better than I remember. Probably Top 10 of 2013, and not too far behind Selenelion in quality. It has more black metal elements, but is somehow more accessible. Also, anyone who's a fan and hasn't read any of Josh Strawn's interviews (like the one Doomcifer posted) is doing themselves a major disservice. Dude is hyper-intelligent and you can tell he GETS IT, this whole music/art thing. I particularly enjoyed his discussion of the similarities between the occult ("hidden") and the erotic. Fascinating stuff.

From a recent interview (01/19/2014):

What does the future hold for Vaura?

We’re actually gearing up to start tracking our third record at the end of February. It’s not written, but it’s conceptualized and if that concept is any indication it will be a departure from these first two albums. Both of our records so far have incorporated elements of noise, industrial, and electronics, but our plan is to take all that a bit further.

So the next one will sound like Skinny Puppy?

I actually finally listened to the first album about a week and a half ago. I find myself greatly preferring The Missing thus far, but I'm not sure how much of that is having been exposed to it first, although my predilection towards black metal is a strong factor as well.

Where is the link you're referring to? I don't even see where Doomcifer posted in this thread.
