Does anyone know where to find out how many albums a band has sold? I'm curious to see some of the numbers from various albums but can't find anything.

I wonder how many albums you've got to sell to even see decent money after the label, taxes, etc.

I imagine you'd be better off snooping around whatever label the album was released on, they'd be more likely to have numbers.

I think Billboard has records of US album sales.

if you're curious about how much money a band makes you gotta bear in mind merch, gigs, cd sales and mechanical royalties.

royalties for metal bands are usually higher because they sell less records than pop, i think somebody told me a pop artist makes something like 80pence from a CD sale, whereas our deal for example is 20% so we'd get more like £2

Most bands don't make money from album sales.They make it from touring and merchandise.I was going to make a thread about record sales but there one here.Who is the highest selling metal band?I am thinking it Metallica or Iron Maiden.
