Relaxing Synth-heavy Progressive Metal

In the song "Honor Thy Father" by Dream Theater 6:25-6:54 is somewhat relaxing and calm but still heavy because of the synth. Are there any groups that do this sort of thing more often? Creating a relaxing atmosphere while remaining heavy.

Might be a stretch, but Gordian Knot's self-titled album is decently heavy through most of the album but at the same time it achieves this really ethereal feel that I can't really describe. It's more because of stick, touch guitar, and some other effects-heavy playing rather than because of synths, but since you're listening to Dream Theater at all I can't imagine you not liking that album.

I know its pretty obvious, but you into Opeth? Some good progressive stuff; try the album Damnation.

The self-titled GK album is indeed amazing and very unique. Not a note out of place. The follow-up is also fantastic, but quite different. It has a warmer, more organic feel.
