Release date for new Symphony X album

Here's a post on studio updates, going back to Feb. of 2006. There were equipment issues @ MJR's studio, along with LePond's illness, and it appears a chain reaction of delays in scheduling/rescheduling the mix of the new cd. I think you'd be more disappointed if it was rushed, but even hinting that you feel it'll be a disappointing release without hearig a note is just wrong. I'm not even that harsh on PoS! :Saint:

I DO agree that they lost momentum, but lets see what happens when the cd is released a little later on this year. I'm just as anxious as anyone to hear it, and I'm fairly confident the new cd will slay, based solely on who's involved in creating it.

J-Dubya
Tell 'em J-Dubya! Although, I am that harsh on PoS! :p

I will also agree that they have lost momentum since the last album. It is a shame that has happened. I haven't liked that there would be months between updates on the new album. The people on the SX forum can be a bit militant at times, so I don't post there that often. I still think the album will be good. I really haven't been disappointed in any of the R. Allen era albums.

Everyone is an armchair quarterback when they have nothing at stake. Personally, I can't wait until disc is released. Lost momentum confidently regained with a release that will remind people of classic Symphony X.

Then again, I probably have a biased opinion. Back to my lurking I go.

Yeah, your bias=my bias.......... ;)

J-Dubya - Who also agrees that momentum can be easily regained.....

They are now saying on one site that it is coming out in May. Hopefully there are no more delays before that. I do think this long layoff hurts them no matter what people say.

I am a fan, and therefore an armchair quarterback. If the fans can't be critical of pertinent issues regarding a beloved band, then tell me just who can be? And frankly, adequately touching on much of the previously omitted "older" material in a live setting would be the reminder I personally am looking for from SX.

Though I wish Symphony X would at least update their website now and then with information and new and interesting tidbits, etc, I am fine with them taking as long as they need on the album. For some bands its like 'studio time!' and they waltz in, record 30 songs just coming up with riffs as they go, and then pick the best ones. Personally, I hate that style - I think it makes the music sound disjointed and sloppy and doesn't loan itself to truly well envisioned and thus well crafted songs. I'm glad X takes the time to really develop their songs, which is something I have always felt has given more weight and coherence to their music. I'd much rather allow musicians to take the time to make an amazing product than rush to make an adequate, filler type album. Of all their releases, X has never put out anything of less than outstanding quality. I am sure their new album will not disappoint.

I agree with that!

All I know is that I was listening to V - The New Mythology Suite last week at work on my headphones and as great as some of the tracks are on Odessey, IMO opinion they have not done anything as beginning to end amazing as that V cd.

LOL It wouldn't surprise me if that only came in 2025... Here's what should happen in metal by then:

-Kiss will finish their last leg of the Farewell tour
-Magnitude 9 will have played ProgPower; Corey Brown's son will be a doctor, finally.
-Nevermore will have finally played ProgPower after having to cancel another 9 times since ProgPower VII.
-Guns N'Roses' Chinese Democracy's official street date is announced.
-Wastefall's USA VISAs are approved.
-Nightwish's new singer is announced.
-Matt Barlow rejoins Iced Earth.
-General Zod's hair grows again.

J-Man attends PPXXVI in a wheel chair this time for real.
Milton attneds with his three kids aged 14, 12, 10.
ZOD;s hair grows out and it's Gray.
J-DUBYA Attends PPXXVI and doesn't remember why he is there
Glenn Owns Centerstage.
Paul Cashman hasn't gotten a hair cut in 18 years.
Hoyt wears the kilt again.
Tommy King's band is Headlining Friday Night.

Right, you are an armchair quarterback. No one ever said you couldn't be critical. But frankly, the band will run things the way THEY want. THEY would like to put out something THEY can be proud of. Whether you approve of it or not is purely your own opinion to have.

This album may have taken the longest to date for them, but rest assured that no corners have been cut and no shortcuts were taken in order to deliver another quality release.
