After a couple years with EMGs in my Ibanez, I was desiring a passive setup again. This time I put in a Duncan JB and Jazz combo in and also installed the Seymour Duncan Triple shot mounting ring for easy access to Split coil, Series/Parallel tones. Long story short, I am beyond pleased with the results. The JB is simply a stellar pickup and I can't tell you how much fun I've had dinking around in split coil mode. Here's a couple things I've done with the new setup, most just some random wanking.

Here's the Jazz Neck in action. I love the Strat-like tone with the coil split.

I've got the same setup in my Tele, albeit with a 250k pot. Absolutely love these pickups in the right axe.

The biggest thing I noticed with the JB especially is how bright and open sounding compared to the EMG81 despite the much larger sounding bottom end in the JB. With that top end, however, I imagine the 250k pots are the way to go for your Tele.

Yeah, that's exactly the reasoning - the top end on the pickup is great, but an alder body, bolt-on solid maple neck and stainless steel frets don't exactly make for a warm instrument.

In LP style guitars I can't get into it, though. The bottom end is just too open and the upper midrange spike gets to me after a while.

great SD combo cant go wrong with this classic setup.....does everything from blues to metal

Really nice!
I'm not a huge fan of the 81 for lead sounds, at least not in my axes and with my playing.
Sound much better with duncans in the right axe

Sounds fantastic! The first clip almost sounds chimp spannerish in some parts. Mix sounds better than ever as well. Any news on the album?

I've been meaning to pop my JB back into my Jackson V sometime, because I am such a huge fan of Gojira. Only reason really. Though I never do it because I can't tear myself away from how the Duncan Distortion Trembucker sounds in this guitar. I just think of how perfect it sounds and I can't bring myself to do it... the JB is a great pickup though, definitely keeping it.

Sweet! I really like your guitar playing and your tone.

I'm just about to order a JB/Jazz set from Thomann for my LP copy.
I haven't even thought about coil splitting until I heard those sound samples,
now I do :p
