Resurrection Macabre

The pronunciation you praise is coming from a man who shit all over the very style (and audience he is trying to connect with) a while back. This release reeks of profit. Despite all of this, I was hoping for a great album. Unfortunately, sincerity is nowhere to be found on the tracks I have heard so far.

I didn't say I praised his pronunciation. It sounds like Frank Mullen. Insincere? Sure.

I think its an unexpected sound, but not necessarily bad at all. I like everything they've recorded and not just because its them. They always change a bit with each release, and since its been 16 years since Spheres, they had some catching up to do with style shifts. I like it quite a bit.

This album sucks... half the fucking riffs are riffs from prior albums, and what's new is sub par. Not the release I was expecting from Pestilence for sure.

After checking out Devouring Frenzy & Horror Detox i'm inclined to agree. 16 years to come up with something as quality as Testimony of the Ancients and what we're served with is a very poor man's Bloodbath. Chugga Chugga horrar detocks! Oh Babu. :erk:

How much profit can one expect to reap from a death metal album?

I'm not saying they are making Slayer-like $, I'm just saying that I don't see much point in coming back to play regurgitated riffs after completely disprespecting the scene as a whole when you decided to make your exit the first time. I guarantee you this record (and the resulting shows) are making one hell of a lot more than anything else he (Mamelli) would have been doing musically. Let's face it, Tony Choy doesn't play for meals. If he is on board, there is $ being made.

This is true. Point made.

One thing I found strange was the style of vocals he chose. On the limited edition version(which I own) they added rerecorded versions of Chemo Therapy, Out of the Body, and Lost Souls. He clearly can still perform his trademark vox:headbang: but decides to do those death growls throughout the album. Strange to me.

Meh, the only song that really "sucks" is Y2H. What a piece of shit.

but lets be honest Pestilence was never that big a deal. there is a reason why most DM bands fell off the map a long time ago.
