Revalver III Demo out today!!!

Downloading... as I wait for my Engl e530 to arrive via FedEx today - tone shootouts will be in order!

UPDATE: still waiting for the Engl (should be here any minute now) and I'm pretty unimpressed by Revalver III so far. I know others have gotten great results with it, but apparently those kinds of sounds aren't easily available. I just think the amps sound fizzy and digital no matter how I dial them, and undergained no matter how I set my input level. And their "greener" stompbox sound nothing like a tube screamer.

Any tips with Revalver III?

+1

Not feeling it.

From looking at it some more I see a lot of potential but man you could tweak this thing for days. I don't care for any of the presets and it doesn't act like a real 5150 at all (pre gain on 4 on the lead channel is barely any distortion WTF?).

I also don't care for any of the cabs. All that said I will probably pick this up sometime in the future. I had to test the AU version as the VST version was glitchy as hell on my mac I would click the preamp gain knob ajust it but then the mouse wouldn't let go . All well.

Can't wait for this to come about more.

i know the sound of the sim is of most importance but the RIII interface is a bit shit. ie. i f you compare the rendering and graphical content of IK's Amplitube vs. Revalver:Puke: the Revalver interface: amp fronts etc look hand drawn & there is loads of white space and poor lay out in associated dialogue boxes ...:u-huh:

The problems with all modelers is the amps never sound like the real amp and cabinet from the default position. They should --but they dont. Its always a compromise. Its takes quite a bit of skill to make them sound right--and it shouldnt be that way. This is why some people always seem to get good sounds when others fail. Ultimately thats the companies fault and not the user. But the fact remains that just as some people can see something and immediately paint it in a life-like manner--some people can hear something and know immediately what to do to make it sound the way they want. Every user knows this--but few are willing to admit it.

If you think about it, there is no shame at not being good at adjusting all the variables that make up a good tone. Everyone has gifts..some peoples fingers are faster than others, some people write excellent music, and some people have great voices...but when getting a sound, whether real or not, its always the gears fault :)

The main point is people should have to work hard to make things sound good

So I got the ENGL, and I have the opposite "problem" with it as with Revalver III. With the ENGL, I can't stop playing because I keep finding great sounds constantly. With Revalver III, I can't stop playing because I can never find a decent sound.

No tone shootout necesarry, seems quite a few are getting OK sounds with Revalver III somehow, just doesn't seem worth the time investment to me when I can just plug into my ENGL with almost any impulses (even sub-par ones) and get great tone instantly without any fuss!

The one thing NONE of the amp modelers on the market have is the instant gratification factor that real tube amps give you. Impulses are doing a great job of modeling power amps into cabs into mics, but amp modelers have yet to capture the complex, organic, harmonically rich tone of real tubes. I'd even argue that Amplitube 2 is further along than Revalver III in this respect, but both still have a long way to go before I'd ever use them on a record.

here's my first try with Revalver MK III :

http://pages.intnet.mu/fremen/Samples/REV_MKIII_tests.rar

There's 4 clips inside :
- Until - Amplitube 2 L & Rev MK II R.mp3 is my normal guitar setup, the one I've used for the premastered version of my album (with Amplitube 2 on the left channel, Revalver MK II's Kitty on the right)
- Until - JSX L & 6505 R.mp3 (self explanatory here)
- Until - Amplitube 2 L & Rev MK III R.mp3 (idem)

+ a fourth file, without bass & drums this time, where I alternate, in real time, with the different rythm tracks at my disposal

Michael said on the Alienconnection-Forums, that this Demo is an OLD Version. They accidentally uploaded a March-Preview of RevIII. He already contacted the webmaster about it and begged the Users on the AC-Forums to wait for that.

Here is the most up-to-date version

thanks for these - the peavey site is hella slow.

What are the limitations of this MK3 demo? I couldn´t find it anywhere, and I see people here doing full songs using it.
I mean, they don´t insert glitches from time to time, or expire after some days?
