Ok, I did a quick test here, it wasn't about tone matching, it was about dialing an good enough tone, copying the settings to the other track and hard panning, to see how they perform in a stereo mix.

The thinking is that poorer cab implementation should sound flat and 2d where as the better ones sound lively and open up the stereo field.

5 different FX chains are:
- Revalver IV Flat Hill, with mic position in bottom left hand corner of default cab

- Line 6 GearBox 2001 Cali Diamond Plate

- Lepou Lecto into x50 cab, full movement, guitar hack impulse, 8124 samples

- x50, default cab impulse, full movement, 8124 sample, slightly tweaked amp

- S-Gear Wayfarer through stock Redwirez impluses

See if you can guess the order, and also nominate which ones you prefer, I'll post results over the weekend.

Mix with bass

Mix without bass

I've no idea which is which but the third one sounded great. The second tone is the weakest and the fourth tone I think could benefin of lowering the bass since it sounds too boomy. And the last one could work great for softer styles and it needs a bit of the mids scooped.

Sorry, but I thought they were all awful.

If you're looking for NoFX style sound I think the first one is probably most suitable for the task. The last one is Revalver...

Humm, keep the secret but the last tone is revalver
Ugly tones anyway.

RE: Ugly tones: Agree they're not usable, but it was an exercise in 'dial in a quick tone, move on' and present the sim as it is. No EQ out, just tweak some knobs, find a quick IR, print. What do you think would be a better comparison?

Not going for a NOFX tone.

In order:
- Line 6
- S-Gear
- x50
- Lecto
- Revalver
