Revalver IV

lmao. Okay.. so just because I thought you were talking shit, now you refuse to offer me any information? That about right?

k, whatever....

yeah, seems like you'll be able to custom-design your own amp in Reavlver (incl colours etc) and then place a customorder for the REAL amp through Revalver...

I really think that idea is quite awesome, you built it yourself in revalver and get the real amp sent...fuck yes

That's pretty cool as a concept, but given how unlike the real versions the sim sounds at the moment, will it be a safe bet for the customer? Not to be constantly downcast all the time, but we've had quite a few people on here complaining that for instance dialing a 6505 in the sim with the same settings for the real counterpart doesn't provide the same sound.

Great idea though. If you could somehow get the rhythm channel of a Savage & Recto, Leads of 5150, cleans of AC30 or Fender Twin... whoo.

Would you mind expanding upon that? I'm not sure I follow....

You build an amp inside Revalver, and then the Revalver team (for a fee) send you back the amp that you built?

I like it in theory. Could be an issue with some crappy amplifiers floating around though. Although I guess they will be locked to the specific copy of Revalver that created it... so.. no sharing amps I would wager.

Well is that your main complaint against the program dude? Cuz I do agree it's annoying, but the rule of thumb for digital modelers is that they require an absurd amount of tweaking, but the ends definitely justify the means - do you REALLY mean to tell me that you think anything Line6 (including Splat's preset, no offense to him!) can touch this? Cuz that is far and above the greatest modeled tone I have ever heard, and I'd be more than proud to release it.

And Amberience, don't turn it around with that "I have more of a life" crap, that's the oldest and lamest comeback in the book. It takes all of 10 minutes to check and read up on this forum; if your life involves not being able to spare even that amount of time, then there's nothing more I need say, cuz your impending ulcer will give me all the satisfaction I need. Just recognize that as a new guy, coming in and flaming is not gonna be very well accepted.

I'll guess that it's because you showed a serious lack of respect. We try to do things differently on this forum than most other places. Mutual respect, help each other out, share ideas, & minimal attitude. Lasse is a really cool guy & wold probably walk through fire to help someone out. Just don't give out the attitude while asking for said help.
If you're cool with those ideas, then hey, welcome aboard.

it may not sound like a real 6505 but to me the tones i get on revalver mkIII are a hell of a lot better than my pod xt days....

Just compared between that and Splatt's 'Inside' track (at least the old non vox version that he posted ages ago). The revalver tone has elements that are more indicative of what a real amp may sound like, whereas the Line 6 gear sounds downright more synthetic. Having said that, Splatt's sits in the mix better, sounds more lush (in context of the mix), has a better EQ curve and is less raw. The chief thing I don't like about the Revalver sounds, and it's exemplified there, is that they're too low-mid heavy. It's like the tones are being played in a plastic tub.

What gets me about it is that all the amps sound like cheap Chinese ripoff versions of their real selves. Whilst this is probably what Peavey are going for, it is certainly not for me. I can deal with the fact that there are people out there who want to spend the time tweaking everything they can get out of it, but what I really need is for a real amp substitute. All the hype by the testers prior to release, saying that it's '98% of a real tone' or 'I'm gonna sell all my amps' just ended up being hot steam.

Also, when it comes to having to churn out work as fast as possible to meet deadlines, it's not always possible to tweak every intricacy in the amp sim to perfection. A lot of the times what's needed is something you can pull up, set up and just 'go'! I understand that this is probably a criticism of both the Gearbox and the Revalver software, but I figured I'd just throw it in because it's 4:30am and I don't know what I'm talking about anymore!

Having said all that, the custom amp building idea is fantastic.... provided that the synthetic versions of the amps sound anything like their real selves!

I know exactly what Moonlapse is talking about, and I have to agree.

They still can't replace a mic'd up tube amp, so for most of us, they're just tracking or demoing tools, which a POD works wonderfully for. The only difference is that a POD doesn't eat up resources like a bitch or take a million years to get 95% there when it's not going on the final product anyway.
