reverse breath thingy

Listening to some FTFD and wondering how you achieve the reverse air thing before a screaming line. Example For the Fallen Dreams - Nightmares @ 2:40

Any help would be appreciated.

grab the part you wanna do, reverse -> verb the shit out of it -> reverse back -> automate to where you like it.

vocal swells are piece of cake.

on a separate note, how do you think they achieved the effect on this vocal? (happens at around 35 seconds in)
