I just wanted to know whether it's common practice here to re-mic a cabinet when aiming for a lead sound after rhythms. I commonly do this, because different timbres tend to stand out apart from each other in the mix... a slight shift in position can make all the difference to change a guitar tone's character enough to pop it out from sinking back into the rhythms.
Although I can see that finding the 'ideal' position for the mic and simply leaving it there has convenience on its side.
