Riot no Moore...again?

Health has GOT to come first. Hope he recovers quickly and completely. Looking forward to those US dates.

More RIOT press about the new record, plus a steam of another song....from www.melodicrock.com :

Riot are justifiably proud of their upcoming release. As bassist Don Van Stavern says: "Immortal Soul picks up where 'Thundersteel' left off, 20 years later! It has the same intensity, creativeness and passion that we put into our music. It's another ball buster and I can't wait to unleash it on the masses." Immortal Soul sees Tony Moore, Mark Reale, Don Van Stavern and Bobby Jarzombek – the line-up responsible for the band's hugely acclaimed 'Thundersteel' (1988) and 'The Privilege Of Power' (1990) albums – re-united once more, together with Mike Flyntz who as the additional live guitarist helped bring these two acclaimed albums to life on stage. To give the fans a taste of what to expect, the song Still Your Man will be revealed today on Soundcloud: soundcloud.com/steamhammer-spv/riot-still-your-man.

Guitarist Mike Flyntz is equally as enthusiastic. “I have been performing the songs from the 'Thundersteel' era for over 21 years. It has been an honour to write and record 'Immortal Soul' with Tony, Don, Bobby, and Mark. I am very proud of my contribution to this record and also very proud to play along with such inspirational musicians. I hope everyone enjoys this album as much as I do.”
For drummer Bobby Jarzombek, “'Immortal Soul' is a special record for me because in all the years that I've been playing and recording various projects, I've never been completely involved in any other CD from the very first day of writing, to the very last day of mixing. I'm really looking forward to the live shows, and including some new 'Immortal Soul' songs into the set along with the Riot classics!”
Founding member and guitarist Mark Reale, who has been Riot's guiding force since the band released 'Rock City' over thirty years ago, is quick to pay tribute to vocalist Tony Moore's input. “To me, the close collaboration with each of our vocalists has always been the decisive aspect in any Riot release. That's why it was absolutely inspiring for me at the studio that Tony directly took up many of my ideas and translated them brilliantly, or contributed his own suggestions from which our songs benefited greatly. He is simply the perfect Riot frontman!”
And as Tony Moore himself points out, “It's been nearly a quarter of a century since the five of us assembled in New York to create 'Thundersteel' and 'The Privilege Of Power', and the music world couldn't be more different.
The internet led us not only to discover that those albums had taken a special place in the history of metal, but also put us back in touch – and the result is 'Immortal Soul', an album that is100% true to the legacy of those 1980s recordings. It's also packed with evidence of how we've all grown and changed as artists. It was recorded in five studios, in three different cities, and it's absolutely a product of the most important changes in the recording industry over the last 20 years. We're looking forward to sharing the details with our fans and friends around the world, along with the music. Enjoy!”

RIOT Founder Mark Reale Hospitalized - In Critical Condition ( from http://www.bravewords.com/news/175930 )

"RIOT founder and guitarist Mark Reale has been admitted to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition due to complications of Crohn's disease. Subsequently, there is a possibility that he may not appear in the band's upcoming performances in the US Northeast and aboard the 70000 Tons Of Metal Cruise to Grand Cayman.

According to a band update: "Mark has been battling Crohn's for most of his life, working and performing while enduring almost constant pain and the side effects of treatment for his illness. He was in Texas bravely attempting to practice for the shows, but was felled by a severe onset of Crohn's symptoms leaving him in the Intensive Care Unit at an undisclosed facility.

The band has agreed that the performances will take place as scheduled with the possibility that Mark may not be well enough in time to appear. Riot would also like to acknowledge that Mark has been struggling with these symptoms throughout the production of their new album, Immortal Soul, and that guitarist Mike Flyntz recorded a major portion of the guitars on the album with Mark's creative direction while he was unable to perform.

For this reason, fans can be assured that the show will be as exciting as anything Riot has ever staged, even if Mike needs to hold down double guitar duty. Mark will be sorely missed in this event, but the shows will go on.

We ask fans and friends of the band to pray for Mark's speedy recovery, and to support the band in our efforts to bring you the Riot reunion shows that have been so long in the making. While Mark's family insists on privacy during this difficult time, your prayers and good wishes will make it to his bedside until he is able to return to the stage."

Just read about this. Major bummer. Hope Mark will be able to recover fine. He's the heart and soul of Riot for more than 35 years, seeing the band live without him would be very weird...

Footage from yesterday's New York City show. The song is "Riot" from the new album Immortal Soul. Not my fave one cause I'm kinda burned on speedy double-bass stuff, but the guys are tight and Mike Flyntz does a great as the only-guitarist on stage. And Tony Moore's high-pitched voice sometimes bugs me, but the guy still has some serious pipes.

Finding this Riot Jaxx thing to be pretty interesting. Wonder what is going to come of this.

Is Jay part of the "new management?"

For those unaware, Riot drove all the way to Jaxx from NYC and found out their show was canceled because the new management told them they didn't have permits. The guys went to the venue anyways and met fans out in the parking lot.

In the meantime, the venue deleted the cancellation notice on their facebook page from early this morning blaming the band for the cancellation, specifically stating it was not their fault. Fans had no idea the show was canceled until they got there or read Riot's messages.

Some serious bullshit going on.....

My guess...not enough tickets were sold to cover the guarantee and the douchebags canceled the gig with an excuse to get them out of any liability.

I'm not sure, I have heard for years different things about the management there. Justin may know since he is there often.
I think your theory on the cancellation is probably correct. I have been out with bands were exactly that has happened.
Had friends about to headout to this from NC and they read about the cancelation right before stepping out of the door.
Most say this is not a good way for new management to start but what do I know about running a club or promoting.

I just talked to a friend that was called tonight directly by Riot's manager who said that this was to be the first show under the new management. The new owners posted that Riot had cancelled and that is what they told the opening band. Yet the was also something about the new owners not having permits yet so they could not go on tonight. The club stayed closed. And that is all I should say.
It is going to be interesting what comes of this.

Apparently Mark Reale is in a Coma...has been since the 11th. I knew he was in the ICU, but i dont remember reading he was in a coma. He had a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.Man, this sucks :(

Whatever the reason, this is not a very promising start for the new owners of Jaxx. I worry that this is how they're going to treat all small/older bands from now on. I have much respect for Riot though, proving that they were there and ready to play, and hanging out with fans.

That's the word anyway.
Yeah what Riot did was pretty damn cool, but after all what better did they have to do at that point? Still it brings to mind all those bands that are total pricks especially ones of the same of Riot who are delusional about what they are, wonder if they would hang out in the bathroom stall of McDonald's. HAHA
That was just cool of them.

I had heard it was a pretty bad situation but not a coma, guessing this is a recent development.

yeah, in the recent news item on his site, it says he's been in a coma since the 11th. Maybe he's been in a coma since then, but they just figured out what caused him to go into a coma. Boy, seems like everyone is getting sick lately :(
