Just found out he died yesterday.

I'm usually not saddened by celebrities dying but this one made me stop and think for a second. I may not have agreed with him on everything but I think he definitely had some pretty profound things to say and seemed like a decent guy.

If they're implying he recanted on his deathbed, I'm calling total bullshit. This is the guy who went beyond atheism and argued for antitheism.

Yeah, after studying both sides of the argument, there really is no Biblical support for hell. Of course, the evangelical wing of my family is headed up by a grandfather, who has never admitted to being wrong about anything IIRCC.

I understand just dismissing the Bible entirely, but typical Christians are extremely frustrating. You tell them "This is what the Bible says". "Well that's not what my pastor said!"

Edit: I had a "new Christian" tell me I was trying to brainwash him with the Bible because I was disagreeing with what his pastor said lulz.

Have you ever entertained the possibility that you might be a deist?

According to the classical definition of "deism", I'm not. If I hadn't had my own personal experiences I would probably be Agnostic. Regardless of which "god" may be correct, if any of them, everything about the universe points to more or less intelligent design imo.

Edit: Apparently "Christian Diesm" is a pretty wide umbrella. Might work.

Hey Dak, you always point to these personal experiences you have had or awakenings..... Can you please, in any way, explain them?
Maybe in another thread.

So basically you're saying that because you personally had a moment when everything was clear to you, an omnipotent being exists. Very interesting point.
