I'll admit, I was very impressed and surprised with the new song clips. Ripper was obviously not singing to his full potential with Priest. I was a bit harsh on his vocal style in another thread, but these clips...DAMN!!! :OMG:

He sounds incredible. Those high notes in The Reckoning and Red Baron/Blue Max are fucking great. After hearing that, I can totally picture him singing Iced Earth's older stuff. I'm sold.

Well, I know that I have been ranting lately on this board about how much I dislike the clips and how much better Barlow was, but they are finally starting to grow on me. Even though I still prefer Barlow, I am beginning to get used to this sound, and the excerpts are finally sounding good to these ears. I guess I just had to adapt to the sound.

I like Owens. I thought those clips were excellent. Barlow was tough, but since he shut er down I think Owens is going to do a great job. It's going to definitely be a different sounding Iced Earth though, that's for sure.

His voice sounds alright to me now too...didn't like it at first, but when I listened to the samples today they sounded good. Just the lyrics that bother me.
I'll just put my little rant on the Red Baron topic that I almost posted here...

Btw I'm not so worried about Owens singing the slower songs now that I listen to Hollow Man properly. I think he could make Blessed Are You sound awesome.
Matt was still the man on all the stuff that he sang though. :)
