Sometimes I think yes, sometimes I think no.

I think compared to the glam bands of the 80's and early 90's, Korn was way heavier. Korn's first two cd's were not radio-friendly either.
Heavier doesn't make a band metal...

Hopefully someone who lived through that time can tell me exactly how metalheads reacted to Korn's debut in 94.
Hardcore metal fans hated it, myself included.

i saw priest and whitesnake play together a few years ago and the placed they played was 3/4 full while korn played the same venue that year with some band i've never heard of and korn sold it out
I saw Priest/Whitesnake play together just last year and the place was packed to the hilt...

when korn's first 2 albums came out metalheads were all over it.
"metalheads" of that era were subjective to me... I wouldn't consider "metalheads" of the Hot Topic crowd metalheads though they like to think they are... the hardcore metalheads i ran with in those days were not all over Korn at all or similar bands...

why not? metallica opened for twisted sister. megadeth opened for motley crue
I don't know why TS or MC had those bands open for them but for Metallica and Megadeth it was purely a economic & exposure reason and not because they liked those headliners...

well go to the megadeth forums and ask if korn is any good and the 35+ year old people will all say the same. the first 2 albums were heavy and original and then it got old.

as far as the "hot topic" metal crowd. i don't even think there was a hot topic story on the east coast in the early 90's.

finally megadeth opened for the crue in 2000. i guess megadeth need exposure almost 20 years into their career?

ahh so now you can predict what people you don't know will say? At least with me I am going by people i do know in the same age group...

they were in my area considering they started out in the late 80's...

Apparently so if they had to stoop that low... It's like if Slayer opened up for Poison... :tickled:

i didn't need to predict anything. someone started a thread asking if the new korn album was good and almost everyone replied by saying korn hasn't been good since after the 2nd album

And you know their ages how? You know my age on UM only because i tell you... regardless, this show is in Japan no? Rob is big there, Priest or no Priest... enough to fill such things... Japan is different then stateside or europe...

I don´t think so. Iron Maiden and Arch Enemy have more in common musically than Korn and Halford, let alone Korn and Accept. Iron Maiden and Arch Enemy also have a much more of a common fanbase between them then Korn and Halford.

I like about 2 Korn songs, other than that they're Terribad. Not to mention I'm quite a big Priest fan. Halford is a metal god whether you like him or not, he was there from the beginning, he deserves more respect than Korn right?

most of the time festivals have the largest selling act headline. korn has sold more than halford as a solo act

Maybe Rob is just trying to introduce himself to a different generation/sub-genre of metal fans. Korn is fucking awful though in my ears though. I could have dealt with Disturbed.... but Korn ?
