rock/funk/metal "no category-core" mix

This is an old song I wrote like 10 years ago when I was like 18. It had a crap mix back then, so I retracked it since i thought it was deserving.

Dont really know how to classify it into a genre other than rock..

S2.0 drums
lextac amp sim
lecto amp sim
bass DI with guitar rig 4

theres something missing to fill the mix in entirely.. like a tambourine or some synth background sounds.. not sure how to get that icing on there.

bass was a bit difficult to mix because it is a mix of slap and fingerpicking.

i sometimes think i abuse cut and paste a bit much, but i try to keep the song as natural sounding as possible... i use a nomad factory analog plugin then voxengo elephant on the master bus.. seems to give a good mix of smoothness and punch.
