I am looking at getting a vs1680 for an intro into recording. I plan to use it as an control for reaper. But am wondering if anyone has done this and can you use more functions than just the faders. I would like to be able to use the pans and other things like that plus the recording section if possible?

I love the vs1680, a studio in a box particularly if you have the optional fx boards. Russ Russell told me he did an album on one many moons ago.

The main drawback is that you can't directly link to a pc without quite a lot of clowning around. Also they can be a bit of a learning curve to get your head around, two years later and i'm using about 50% of the functions.

I like the hands on real faders and sliders as opposed to eyestrain and mouse rage on pc. If you get one dump the factory manual and find the rewritten versions on vs planet.
