Rolling Stones on 60 minutes...

Did any of you guys or gals see that report?

Not only the Stones look likey they are 100 years old....they must be the MOST OVER-RATED rock band in history. How in hell did they get so big? Well actually i have a theory on that, but the reality is that their music sucks...

The reporter mentioned that the band would make $400M (assumed he meant in USD) from the 12 month world tour!!! How much are they charging for tickets???

I saw some of that, and I agree, they are amongst the most over-rated bands in history, along with Led Zeppelin IMO.

I like Satisfaction.....but that's about it. They do look rather silly, aged 60-odd prancing around like they do.

On that note, i hope Maiden retire when they are all well into their 50's as far as touring goes.....i don't know, i just wouldnt want Maiden to be embarrassing like that.

As far as the $400M USD goes, they didnt really clarify whether that was going to be gross takings (most likely) or profit (seems very unlikely).

But i would certainly agree that they are WAAAAY over-rated. Obviously riding the wave created by The Beatles, and Jagger's "sex-symbol" status uke: had alot to do with their success because their songs are average at best.

I saw the Rolling Stones the last time they toured (95 or 96 i think) at the Sydney Cricket Ground and thought it was an amazing show.Of course it helped that i was 4 rows from the front right in the middle (lined up for 12 hours to get those tickets)I think it cost me $100 back then.I hate to think what they will charge for this tour...probably something like $300-don't think i will be going this time!

I do have great respect for The Beatles though. I'm not really into them, but their cool.

Spiffy: I like lots of old stuff. Sabbath, Queen, Motorhead are all awesome, and then heaps more 80s stuff besides Maiden.

Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones are the biggest bands ever. Ever. No one will ever be bigger. That speaks for itself. If it weren't for them, rock music would never have got so big after the Beatles split. Ever listened to the Rolling Stones outside of the stuff they play on the radio? They are unsurpassable.

Beatles = awesomeness defined.
Stones = awesome but not quite as awesome as the Beatles.
Zep = also quite awesome.

Others not mentioned but also worth of mentions:
Clapton & Cream & anything Clapton has been in. The Who. Santana. The Doors. Heaps of other 70's rock.
