Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout" Memorial Concerts

What is starting to piss me off is these no name bands capitalizing of RJD's death. At the Maiden show in Vancouver this guy was handling out flyers while saying how much cheaper his tribute show was compared to Maiden's TFF show (!).

Well I guess it may appear that way from one point of view. Kind of like people thought Wendy was capitalizing on his death by continuing to promote his music right after his death.

I would like to think that most of the musicians are feeling the loss of a big part of thier lives and want to honor a man that meant so much to them. Our tribute band has been around for years and Ronnie has heard our music and appreciated what we do long before his death.

We miss Ronnie and are humbled to be part of the small handful of bands out there trying to recreate his music to the best of our ability.

Promotion and sales are part of the music business. Regardless of if it is Wendy Dio promoting his box set, Jorn doing his tribute or local and national bands doing thiers and promoting thier shows just like any other band - what is important is that Ronnies music and what it meant to so many of us lives on and continues to be an inspiration.

Cheers

Seem to me that is some honest market competition going on there. People are free to choose what show they will see. I really don't get your anger. Should Toyota be condemned for saying they are cheaper than Mercedes or BMW?

Do you know how many Jimmi Hendrix clones stood up after he died? Elvis anyone?

Remember that Rainbow tribute band that we talked about a few months ago? Should they quit because Dio died?

If Warrel Dane or Geddy Lee would die I would go to tribute shows. Why not? I do not think there is anything wrong in making a buck while honoring the legacy of someone you admired.

+1

Let people choose what shows they want to see. If the band in question gives a bad performance they make make themselves look ridiculous and thus loose their public.

Well, the band's name was Diocide and that in itself is just stupid. Anyway, it's just the make a quick buck aspect of it that I find questionable.
