Any of you fuckers been there? Any good? Les Claypool's new band plays there the day after I arrive back east and I'll probably go unless the place is a complete dive (in which case I'll definitely go :heh: ).

Yes, I'm sure I've been there. I can't remember who I saw though. Is that where Slayer and Dio played on their last tours? I've been to so many venues in NYC, I get them muddled up.

lurch70 will know.

roseland is good ... we saw slayer there JK ... what the fuck is wrong with you? :)
nice large size place ... 3-4K capacity.

should be a good place to see Les Claypool

Sold. You dudes want to join me on Friday, 10/1? Otherwise on Saturday please take me or show me somewhere where beer and boobs flow like wine, or something.

Who's on the bill?

Now that I know this is where Slayer played, then yeah, I remember the venue. It's a big open hall with a bar at the back. I think there's also a bar at the front to the left of the stage. It's all flat level which means don't stand behind giants like lurch70.

At the Roseland, I've seen Slayer, Dio, and Blur!

The handful of live shows by this group to date (featuring Les Claypool on bass and vocals, mysterious guitar superhero Buckethead, legendary keyboardist Bernie Worrell of Parliament/Funkadelic and Talking Heads fame, and the throbbing back beat of former Primus drummer Brain) have been completely improvisational. With a full-length 11 song original album now under their belts, this tour will be a new experience for all, which Claypool characterizes as "a traveling, oversized sock-puppet show spawned by the characters of a Tobe Hooper film and scored by Danny Elfman on bad acid."

Opening the shows will be a new Colonel ally, Gabby La La. She has already appeared on "D's Diner" on Purple Onion, and is the only additional musician on the new C2B3 CD, The Big Eyeball In The Sky, singing back up vocals on "Hip Shot From The Slab," as well as the title track. She was formerly a member of Love Balm with Lonnie Marshall (Weapon of Choice), who opened for C2B3 at the Fillmore (SF) last year.
It's $30 + fees which is a bit steep, but I'm a Claypool nut so I'll be there anyhow. :)

Oh yeah, the Buckethead thing. Sounds bloody interesting, what with all that Tobe Hooper / Danny Elfman chitter chatter!

$30? :erk: I'll get back to you.

hey hey ... i try to stand off to the side at shows and let all the lilliputians enjoy the festivities.

the Slayer show was nuts ... I was yelling my balls off.

good venue ... when it is sold out ... it is cozy ... as there is no seating.
but for Claypool ... you should be able to sneak right upfront and let him sweat on you.

i will be skipping this show. $30 for that chiken head is a little steep.
more than down to hookup Saturday night.
During the day I have a MINI rally ... we are zipping through all the famous spots in NJ where they film the Sopranos ...
