Completamente terminado con el fuera por sangre tour...!
Some of our best shows, ever.
Started back in March in a couple SoCal spots. Almost lost a tire off the trailer on the way to Riverside, but pulled off the set. Then the CalMetalFest, killer crowd sharing the stage with Testament again.
April showers brought a trip to Venezuela and upon arriving in Caracas realizing that our equipment decided to go to Dominican Rep. instead! So with rented gear we played almost all the set for a rowdy crowd and a host of press weve never had the pleasure of being so scrutinized by before. Reunited with our instruments we set off for Ecuador in the tropical rain. Landing in Quito was the closest I ever want to come to a runway disaster. All the tires on the rear right set blew out and we were skidding and sliding on the wet runway and all were wondering if we were going to stop or slide right off the stretch and into the city. Deplaning thru all the emergency vehicles to collect baggage was something Ill never forget as I looked at the skid marks resembling the marks of a drunk figure skater leading up to the crippled plane. But once we were properly inebriated it was quite a great show in quite a great party town. Cali, Colombia was next and man was the rain coming down that night!! Then on to the beautiful Rio Negro, packed house, crazy loyal screaming fans, Colombian flags with Sadus logos and metal head militia cops!!! That was one of my favorite Sadus concerts ever. Then - Last stop was in Bogotá, to check Colombian fields... The natives were smiling and passing on samples of their yield, indeed..!!! We almost got arrested for Jon taking pictures of some of the non-touristy sites of the city, but at the show the fans were packed in like salmon in a can! The reception was overwhelming and even the building was sweating with pure aggression.
Mayo Starts in Monterrey...first of the Obituary/Sadus shows. Next was the SOS reunion fest in Torreon where we revisited the 1990 tour of Sepultura/Obituary/Sadus...throw in Painmuseum and Hirax and it was a metal onslaught! Then, holy crap...Mexico City, one of the only other revisited cites by us (1992 I think last time there) and the crowd was showing us the love! And we were loved well in Mexico City indeed!!! Last of that trip was Leon Guanajuato, and that was a nice drunken gathering and craziness.
June held the last leg of the tour. Muchas gracias to all the metal heads in Santiago...once again, looks like the second time was a charm! And in Buenos Aires...first time there for us, but felt like meeting old friends, great reception and support from all the new fans and friends there. Unfortunately due to bad fog conditions the airport in Buenos Aires shut for almost three days straight and we arrived there right in the middle of that. We sat there listening to promise after empty promise that we would get in the air to Brasil in time for the Porto Alegre show. Never happened. As it was, we just barely made the show time with lagging equipment minutes before curtain call in Sao Paulo. So of course many technical problems and brain lapses prevented us from focusing the way we like to, but Brazilian fans are amazing, you accepted us in one of our worst forms. Obrigado for that!!! Lastly was the beautiful city of Belo Horizonte...what a sight! This time we were one guitar amp failure away from having that killer vibe of Santiago and Buenos Aires. The fans were great and it was an honor to play in a place Sepultura started off. It was our first time in Brasil, but definitely not the last! Not only is making up the Porto Alegre show at the top of the list, but wed like to drop some thrash on Rio and maybe set ourselves straight in the mighty Sao Paulo again. Well see about the return trips...but we saw that anywhere south of the USA is a great home for Sadus music. Ahhh...we feel like a real band again. And guess what...? Because of you putos' enthusiasm for us; were right back in the Laboratory Of Brutality, composing again...!
Thanks, Gracias, and Obrigado...Chao!
