I just bought AC-7 Core Mini for iPhone for the hell of it, and damn... I love it! Setup took about 30 seconds and so far it works brilliantly in ProTools 9. Feels awesome to write automation without looking at the screen again.
Of course, it can't compete with a real controller with physical faders, but it costs 4 and does what it's supposed to. Lots of features, too, so I can't recommend this one enough. Go check out their website: http://www.saitarasoftware.com/
Here are the only cons I could think of after a quick test:
- The track name displays. Three letters just isn't enough, makes things confusing. Then again, I intend to use this purely for automation and not mixing, so it's not a biggie.
- No vertical display mode in the one-track screen. A larger fader would be awesome.
- Can't change automation modes from the app (at least in PT). Neither can a lot real controllers either.
I thought of getting ProRemote, but it's ridiculously overpriced compared to this one.
