sammy hagar solo

You know Van Halen has a way of taking great lead singers, putting them in the Van Halen pop rock machine successfully for a while, and then spitting them out into oblivion.

It's as those the singers sign away the rights to their talent when they join the band and are forced into early retirement after.

Not complaining about Van Halen though. They produced some great music, it's just strange.

Sammy certainly did not sign the rights of his talent away nor was forced into early retirement. His mark was all over VanHalens music so much so in fact that I realized he had more to do with Montroses music than I origionally thought. I dont think his solo career would have been as far reaching or long term successful either. They had a hell of a run through the mid-late 80's and into the early 90's. The music front changed is all.

I love Sammy solo career. There are amazing albums like "Standing Hampton", "VOA", "Marching to Mars"... I´m not too much only on "Nine on a ten scale" and "I never said goodbye" and never heard "Livin´ it up"

With Montrose is great too and first album is a true classic :headbang:

However I have a problem with his Van Halen years. In my opinion they released 2 good albums with Sammy "5150" and "F.U.C.K." and 2 average ones (poppy "OU812" and "Balance")... but, for me, that´s not Van Halen. That´s Van Halen with Sammy Hagar ´cause for me it has no sense VH without Diamond Dave. Just watch the "Live without a net" VHS and DVD. Best song, by far, is "There´s only one way to rock".

I´d love to see Sammy live. He has to be superb on stage.

VanHalen with Sammy was one kick ass show, I caught a show for the F.U.C.K. tour, rowdy-ist crowd I ever left a concert with. It was a sold out arena and they had everyone wound tighter than a Seymour Duncan
