Hey Guys and Girls (if any happen to be on the Forum)

Everyone here has been such a great help to me and have such a wealth of knowledge that in many other places you have to pay an arm and a leg for. So I figured it's time for me to give something back to this awesome forum. As kind of thank you to everyone here I've sampled the drum kit my band used for the recent recording of our album and put it up for Download on the forum FTP.

The Kit is a Tama Maple Starclassic with 2 Rack and 2 Floor Toms. The Snare is some kind of Pearl snare, I don't know the exact details of it because our sound sound guy borrowed it from one of his friends. The Cymbals a mix Sabian, Zildjian and Anatolien cymbals. All samples have close and room mic'ed versions.

I'm not claiming that this kit is that good and I'm sure as hell not trying to compete with the mighty Steve Slate. This is just a token of my appreciation to the forum. Again thanks to everyone here (especially and Andy and James) for being so willing to share.

Ok I just came back from the Studio and got hold of a list of Mics we used for the recording if anyone is interested.

Kick Inside - Shure Beta 91 (Pyramid looking thing)
Kick Outside - Electro Voice RE 20
Snare Top - SM 57
Snare Bottom - AKG 414
Overheads - 2 x Oktava mk 12
HiHat and Ride - 2 x AKG 451
Toms - 4 x Sennheiser 421
Room Mic - Neumann U87

Preamps - SPL Gain Station, 2 x Tascam MX4, Firepod Pre amps via Spdif and the pres on the Digidesign Rack 003.

so do you actually get better results with a high dollar Preamp into the Firepod Spdif.....rather than just straight into the firepod preamps???

What I mean't was The Pre amps (Gain Station, 2 x Tascam MX4) went in to the Digi 003 rack Line inputs and the pre amps on the firepod went into the 003 Rack via Spdif. We also used the Pre amps on the 003 rack.

I haven't had time to prepare a kit "demo" as i'm still busy editing the drum tracks for the album. I sure one of the forum users might post something up soon. I'm pretty curious myself how they work out.

ha im gonna be lazy and request mapping from anyone that has time to put these together, If anyone gets the chance to put mapping together for battery or exs-24 them im your best friend !

oh and as mentioned above a kit demo would be nice.

I think I was thinking of asking exactly the same thing Then you can just pull out the kit whenever you want in Battery etc right? I have Battery but im not really up on how to use it very well. There ill be your best friend too if somebody does it!

yah mapping is pritty simple but very time consuming !
I agree the samples sound great but i doubt ill get the chance to try this kit
wihout some form of mapping

I could not for the life of me get the ring freq out of the snare. However im gash at doing it with most snares!

There are several depending on the hit.
Make sure the are causing trouble in the mix before you remove them.
Try 493hz, 644hz and 811hz.
