SAMPLING A DRUM KIT

Whats up fella’s! Just wanted to know what some of your methods for sampling a drum kit before you tracked it was. For example do you use the same mic set up that you are going to use while you track, or do you use different mics altogether for sampling the kit. Just want to get and idea, don’t think this has been discussed.

I've yet to mess with alternate mics and mic positions for sampling a kit. Especially if you just want to replace only the weaker/weird sounding snare hits for example, you'll definitely want a sample that came from the same mic in the same position. I've been really happy with the samples I've created, but I'm curious also if other people have discovered something especially cool about blending mics or something. I'm sure it's a case by case thing; see how the kit sounds with the tracking mics first.
