Sampling My D4

I finally got a new power adapter for my Alesis D4 drum module and i want to take the samples on it and put it onto my comp.

What is the best way of doing this? I started just by hitting record on reaper and tapping a piezo element that i have starting softer and tapping it harder and harder for harder hits. Is there an easier way instead of doing this and slicing it up and putting it in order?

Also are there any samples your recommend that are must haves for this module? I dont know if i wanna sample all 500 or so samples lol, that would take forever :Spin:

+1, what lasse said.

but anyways, PLEASE share at least SOME of those samples. wansn't it the fusion or piccolo snare that ended up being blended on nevermore DHIADW?

I think the easiest thing to do would just be download the samples from somewhere that's already done the work :p These aren't that hard to find last I checked, I know there's definitely dozens of guys on this board who have them all...

sure, but nobody's gonna share the samples, right? we didn't even *think* of it....;) ;) ;)

anyways, as for the dm5 sounds. my drummer has a dm5 and i grabbed the samples off that one, but honestly most of them are pretty mediocre. a few of the kicks get used sometimes to blend with slate samples for a different flavor, but i'm not a big fan of the rest.

yep, same here, never used the dm5 samples.
there are 3 D4 snares that I'm using all the time though

I got the D4 samples, but just one velocity. Is there different velocities in the original box. Sharing would be awesome / Cheers

+1 to multisamples please!
Here in my country is so dificult to get one of this units :(

I would love to make some TCI's :D

not trying to be a killjoy, but bear in mind that sharing these would be illegal.

Is it though? There's a million sites online where you can freely download samples from just about every sampler/drum machine ever made, it seems pretty common place and not set up in a "piratey" sort of way...

The TR-808 samples are on about a million different legit synth/sample websites for download, what's the difference here?

I understand the logic and I would assume it's illegal but no one seems to fuss at all about samples from samplers being illegal except for the Alesis D4...

well, not sure how legal the other ones are either, shouldn't be allowed to post those either IMO.
IF it's legal feel free to post what you want of course.
I don't think the amounts of sites where it can be downloaded is an indicator for legality though.
If anyone can confirm if this is legal i'd be cool.

(I don't care what you're doing in private messages)

in that case, pm me if you wanna talk :)

Acutally...I have a job offer involving these samples....
I'm just sampling the most important ones of my D4, running them through some API OpAmp goodness into top converters (AD-16x).
4 velocities, 5 hits each....

now the job:
I'm recording these into PT (see screenshot).
I don't have the time to slice them up and name them (for example "D4 snr01 Raw Hide Hard1" etc)...there are ultrasoft, soft, medium and hard hits.

I need someone to cut them absolutely sample accurate (so not just group them and cut them all in one go!) si every single sample has to be zoomed in individually, cut at the very start of the hit in grid mode "1 smpl", not a sample early or late....
it's a shit job and I don't have the time to do it.

whoever is up for it would receive these nicely recorded stereo files to cut them up, label them and put them into the correct subfolders for me (perhaps make TCIs as well?)
I can't force you to delete the samples after you did the job for me.

EDIT: found someone who's doing it, thanks.
