Samplitude is very cool.
It's sounds more better than cubase/nuendo, i've checked at the studio. And i think it's sounds better than Protools.
Also it has cool features, like easy coping mixer settings from one song to another and samplitude 10 have a very intersting hybryde audio engine, so tuning in it's elastic audio is of very good quality. I think cubase is more popular cause of marketing (it comes with le version with a lo of gear like soundcards), and also Sampplitude is like professional software and cubase is semiprofessional.

well it may feel strange but with a friend who has a good set of speakers, we noticed some differences between samplitude and cubase... Samplitude sounded better, we didn't find if there was somewhere in the audio engine a difference, which would sound strange to me.
It was very very subtle though.
Anyway I tried samplitude, and found it to be the one that has the best ideas, the fact is just... For me it looks really bad, I couldn't get along with the way you edit in it, my workflow had dropped. But that was a 7 or 8 version.

I add that my friend told me that with Cubase 5 this difference disappeared. Maybe something in the export chaint that was in the 4 version. Dunno

I've allways used samplitude and it is super fast, rock solid stable, and has about any functionality you can think of.
The "object editor" is plain awesome.
My friend who makes trance using softsynths prefers Cubase but agrees Samplitude are better for audio purposes.

That's why I tried to find the dither algorithms but I didn't take more time than a mn about the problem, I knew it was somewhere hidden in the chain. But with the standard install, there may had a difference at that moment (dunno for current versions).
