Stylistically, Sankt Velten sharpen their profile with the new song. While the first album and the first single were still classified as speed and power metal, “Dies Irae” is much heavier and dispenses with the use of choirs. The song is a driving, triplet-like neckbreaker and anticipates that Sankt Velten will take a harder musical path in the new line-up than before...."
