I just learned this morning that my former elementary school along with the entire school district cancelled its requirement for each child to take music during their entire elementary education due to a massive budget crisis. It bears mentioning that the school district and policy are over 100 years old.

Mrs. Bowmen, the school's music teacher sparked mine and countless other kids interest in music. She still teaches and has been there for what by now must be approaching 50 years. If she loses a job over this, accidents will and should happen.

And chances are the sports teams for the school will be getting new uniforms within a year.
